Popcorn Party

I’m not a very crafty person.

Although I’ve probably pinned as many craft projects and home decor ideas as you have on Pinterest, I haven’t done even one of them.

I like the idea of crafting but usually wait until a friend shows me the ropes before I try anything. I’m also not the straightest scissor cutter, which kind of kicks me out of the craft club.

I got to be a part of some amazingly crafty food with my friend, Julie, the other day.

We were making cake and cupcakes for her daughter Berkeley’s fourth birthday party!

Here’s the lovely birthday girl, herself!

I got to hang out with Berkeley quite a few times when I helped with kid’s church and she is so full of life and always on the move. I’m also always impressed with how independent she is. She’s always cool with entertaining herself.

First, Julie (before I entered the party-prep scene) cooked the cupcakes and cake.

Then, we made the “popcorn” for the movie-themed party by twisting together two marshmallows.

It’s so easy and looks exactly like little popcorn kernels. So cute and inventive!

Next, we iced the cake and cupcakes then piled on some of our faux popcorn and misted it with a little food coloring spray to make the topping look buttery and extra delicious.

It was such an easy and crafty party bite idea. And Julie completed the nibbles with popcorn boxes filled with Twizzlers. The party was movie themed because the night centered around watching a movie together.

I was so impressed with how all of the movie-related stuff came together and I think Berkeley loved it all.

She kept saying “caaaaake” hours (and days, I think) before the party started. She’s a girl after my own heart.

P.S. This is totally a cake in a pan covered with icing and mallow popcorn and placed in a pop corn box. I know what you’re thinking, adorbs!
