Simple Saturday: Popcorn in a Bag

I’ve been spending a glorious weekend in my hometown, hanging out with my family and wonderful husband.

It’s been so fun just being here and not having an agenda, not having anywhere certain to be and just enjoying life together.

And this Simple Saturday recipe is absolutely perfect for relaxing weekends in front of a big game or your favorite flick with friends or family.

Chill out and make some popcorn in a bag!

Yes, you can do it…and it will taste so much better than that greasy other stuff…and you can add your own seasonings.

Get crazy with it! Make it salty (butter and garlic salt are my faves) or get sweet with butter, cinnamon and sugar.

But let’s start with the corn.

Put 1/4 cup of unpopped kernels in a lunch paper sack.

I should probably say that this will yield 2 servings, but I’ve been known to take this down all on my own. Go ahead and up the amount if you’re popping for a group.

Then, put it in the microwave for about 2 minutes. Listen for when there hasn’t been a pop in the last few seconds and take it out.

Even if you accidentally burn it, just start over and you’ll have a perfect batch in no time.

Then, mix it with your favorite flavors: butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, chili powder…as I said earlier, get crazy with making this popcorn your own.

Then, sit, relax and enjoy…you just made some relatively healthy popcorn! Take that Orville Redenbacher.

Happy Simple Saturday!

P.S. If you have any flavor epiphanies of your own let me know!
