Simple Saturday: Hot Cocoa

It’s our third Simple Saturday on the Fruitful blog! Woohoo!

(If you’d like to check out the other two Simple Saturday posts click here: Avocado Toast and Popcorn in a Bag.)

I hope these non-recipes have been inspiring you to make some simple snacks and meals.

Today, I’ve got a treat for you.

It’s a treat that tastes so much richer and complex than it’s dry, powdery and bagged cousin.

Hot cocoa!

It’s made on the stovetop by warming milk until small bubbles start to form (don’t let the milk boil) and whisking in a dry mix of cocoa powder, sugar and a pinch of cinnamon.

And there you go. You’ve got a cup of warm, chocolatey bliss.

P.S. In my hot cocoa, per cup, I use 1.5 cups of milk (1%, whole, whatever you have in the fridge), 1.5-2 tbs. of cocoa powder, 1 tbs. sugar and a few dashes of cinnamon. Just make sure you mix the dry ingredients before you throw them in the milk. Then, whisk it into creamy perfection. Adjust the sugar and cocoa powder to taste after mixing them with the milk.
