Strawberry Biscuit Cobbler

strawberry biscuit cobbler

Good morning/afternoon/evening, all!

Greetings from my first full week off of work in several years. Holla! I am spending a few days in Asheville with my sisters and brothers-in-law, and then I’ll be jetting off with my husband to Seattle for my best friend’s wedding.

I say this not to make you jealous or wish you were somewhere else, but to get you ready for a bit of a treat of a post.

Even if you are not on vacation or you’re stuck in the hum-drum of Monday, maybe this recipe will get you excited about the season we’re in.

strawberries

Berry season is in full swing here in NC, with strawberries being the first harvest. What can I say? They are deep red up to their green tops and practically melt in your mouth with sweet/tart berry flavor.

I’m lucky enough to live five minutes from dozens of rows upon rows of Porter Farms strawberries, and I’ve already gone through a bucket myself.

If you have fresh berries available near you, get out there and pick and/or buy some and turn them into a classic but zesty dessert like this Strawberry Biscuit Cobbler.

From the lemon, orange and nutmeg with the berries to the cream and buttermilk biscuit topping, these are totally Southern and amazing! (Pro tip: If you don’t have buttermilk, just put some lemon juice or white vinegar in milk and let it sit for a few minutes.)

It’s almost like eating sweet roasted strawberries with a scone topping. Sounds like the perfect little food vacay to me.
