$6 Lunch in Raleigh

You may know that I’m really into baking, cooking and eating out (on occasion), but you might not have known that I am a budget lover!

I am the budgeter/saver at our house, and proud of it! #daveramsey

Although I can definitely spend some hard-earned money on a nice cocktail or a three-course meal, I love it when I can eat out and not break the bank.

So, here is my personal list of 7 delicious (some healthy) $6 lunch options in Raleigh, NC:

Half Falafel at Neomonde– $3.59

This is probably the cheapest option on the list, but don’t even think that you’ll be missing out on taste. Although I love the $9 sampler platter at this Mediterranean spot, sometimes the $4 falafel just hits the spot, stuffed with creamy tahini and pickled vegetables. Also, you can get free pita to go along with it (just ask at the register)!

Soup at Capital Club 16 or State of Beer– $5-6

Ordering soup is one of the best ways to get a tasty and budget-friendly meal. Capital Club 16 and State of Beer are two of my favorite soup spots in the city because they often have a different seasonal flavor every day (or at least every time I’ve been there). A bowl of soup is also quite filling and sometimes comes with bread.

Pork Arepa at Guasaca– $5

Guasaca is another one of my favorite lunch stops in Raleigh, and the arepas are so reasonably priced. I like to get the Signature Pork Arepa, which is filled with juicy pork, black eyed peas, cheese, lettuce and comes with a killer mustard sauce.

Biscuit Sandwich at Rise– $5-6

The possibilities are almost endless with what kind of biscuit sandwich you can get for under $6 at Rise. From Fried Chicken to their seasonal specials, you can’t go wrong for a filling but cheap lunch.

Sesame Tofu or Chicken at Beansprout Chinese– $6

This place is my absolute go-to for cheap and delicious Chinese food. I really like the crispy, sweet Sesame Tofu (or chicken), and it comes with a huge mound of fried rice and a spring roll. Hello, leftovers!

Fried Avocado Taco at Virgil’s Taqueria– $4

This crispy, creamy, spicy taco is my new favorite, and it’s super convenient to anyone who works near downtown (check out Linus & Peppers sandwich shop, too). Although it would be hard to resist ordering cheese dip, this taco is fairly filling on its own.

2 Slices of Pizza at Peri Brothers Pizza– $6

If you’ve got a craving for a NY slice, then check out Peri Brothers Pizza’s lunch special: 2 pepperoni slices and a drink for $6. And when they say a slice, they mean like 1/3 of a normal pizza.

And I’m sure this list is just the beginning, so please let me know if you have other places in Raleigh where you go for cheap eats.

Happy lunching!
