Summer Sippin’

summer-drinks

“Summertime when the livin’ is easy.”

Even summer is a good time to listen to Ella Fitzgerald.

Now I know that summer may not be “easy ” for all of us. A lot of us, although we would like to be on a private island, are working away in our cubicles and looking forward to grilling out and swimming on the weekend.

Whether you’re enjoying a summer off or not, it’s a great time to sip on some cool and tasty drinks.

Here on think fruitful, I’ve shared quite a few of my favorite libations over the past few years, and I thought it might be nice to share a some of them together to wet your summer palette. I’ve got a few non-alcoholic and a few boozy to share.

Also, you may notice that there’s a pattern of mint, gin and lime, so I hope you like that combo because I’m into it and it’s perfect for the season!

1. The South Side

This is a new addition to my cocktail repertoire, and it really couldn’t be more easy or refreshing.

2. Pimm’s Cup

The Pimm’s Cup is quickly becoming my 2015 drink of the summer, especially now that Trader Joe’s is making ginger beer. It’s a little sweet, and it makes me feel fancy when I drink something with a cucumber slice in it.

3. Ginger Lime Spritzer

This non-alcoholic wonder is fruity with a kick from “ginger juice” made from ginger root. I’m pretty sure this drink could cure you from any sickness, too.

4. Boozy Mint Melon

I love the idea of blending summer’s best fruits into cocktails, and this guy does just that. All it takes is some watermelon, mint and gin to make a beautifully pink and mellow drink. I have a sneaking suspicion that this would be great with cantaloupe, too.

5. Limeade

Another mocktail, limeades are the perfect drink to cool off with on a hot day. They always remind me of Mexico and the beach. And all you need is a bag of key limes, club soda and some simple syrup to whip one up.

6. Mojito

This one is a staple for me (whether I’m dining in or out), with the perfect combination of mint and lime (I told you I’m into those flavors) and just a bit of rum.

Cheers!
